Bendel Insurance Football Club are looking to bounce back from a devastating 4-0 loss to Kano Pillars, their heaviest defeat in three seasons, as they prepare to host Abia Warriors on Saturday, April 11.
The Benin Arsenals, currently 7th in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with 46 points, will be aiming for a crucial victory at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium to reignite their ambitions for the season.
Sunday’s matchday 33 encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium saw Kano Pillars dominate, with Mustapha Jibrin opening the scoring in the 23rd minute. Chiedozie Okorie doubled the lead in the 33rd minute, assisted by former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa. Despite some second-half resistance, Bendel Insurance conceded two more goals in quick succession from Aminu Mohammed (81′) and former Insurance winger Bernard Ovoke (85′), sealing the emphatic 4-0 defeat.
This heavy loss follows a 2-2 draw against Plateau United in their previous home fixture. With their upcoming match against Abia Warriors, Bendel Insurance faces a critical test of character and skill as they strive to return to winning ways and climb higher in the NPFL standings.
