National leader of the All People’s Party (APP), Hon Ikenga Ugochiyere has said irrespective of what plays out, they will match the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) “force for force” in the forthcoming 2027 elections.

Ugochinyere made the disclosure on Saturday evening during the inauguration of the Ideato ward and local government executives of the party in Akokwa, Ideato North.

He stated that he will return to the House of Representatives even if the election turns out not to be free and fair.

The lawmaker representing Ideato federal constituency charged the newly inaugurated APP executives to go into all the nooks and cranies and win supporters.

He assured his supporters that they were on ground and working hard to maintain the trust of the people.

According to him, the APP is now the major opposition party in the state, as it currently has two members in the House of Representatives.

Ugochiyere told his teeming supporters “today, our party, APP, after APC is the biggest political party in Imo State today. APC has eight lawmakers, we have two, others have none. That makes APP the number one opposition party in Imo.

“I want to assure you that we are going to confront APC aggressively and I want you to be proud of what we have built. We are going to overrun them.

“We hope there will be free and fair process, but even if the process is not free and fair, we will play in that unfair process. Nobody has monopoly of anything. It must be played by the rules.

“We will not go into an election where we say if the election is free and fair, we will win. We are saying if the election is free and fair, we will win. And if the election is unfair, we will still win. If there is no network, you will transmit the result, when network comes, it will go.

“We want peace, but if you say you don’t want peace, we won’t yield ourselves to be molested. We have a right to be alive”, Ugochiyere fumed.

The meeting was attended by several political big wigs from Ideato and hundreds of supporters.
