Senate Aspirant Pledges Support For Anambra Vision 2070

An aspirant for the Anambra North Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general election, Chief Primus Odili, has pledged his support for the realisation of the state’s Vision 2070 Development Blueprint, being pursued by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Odili, a former chief of staff to the immediate past governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano, is one of the three aspirants jostling for the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ticket to contest the Anambra North Senatorial District seat in the election.

The other aspirants are former aviation minister who earlier represented the zone, Princess Stella Oduah, and the immediate past special adviser to Soludo on Political Matters, Dr Alex Obiogbolu.

Odili told newsmen that part of his ambition is to transform the culture of relations between members of the National Assembly and the state governor.

He said that a collaborative relationship between the members of the National Assembly from the state is crucial for the implementation of the state’s development blueprint.

He, however, stated that the relationship has been lacking and pledged that he will change the negative narrative if he is eventually elected to the Senate.

Odili faulted the manner in which constituency intervention projects were being allocated to the members of the National Assembly, and pledged that if elected, he would champion the implementation of such projects, which would be incorporated into the state government’s development blueprint, arguing that by so doing, the state would experience faster development.

He alleged that so far, members of the National Assembly from the state, including those in the Senate and House of Representatives, handle funds for their constituency intervention projects as their personal money, adding that they majorly divert such funds to implement “employment or poverty alleviation programme” for their constituents instead of incorporating such projects into the state government development blueprint.

He said, “I will galvanise my other colleagues in the Senate and House of Representatives, and we sit down with the governor, know what his vision is, know what his development strides are, and we focus on that, use those constituency funds and support what his government is executing and deal with those problems.”
