To dismantle terrorist networks within their joint operations area, troops of the Joint Task Force (North West) “Operation FANSAN YAMMA” have neutralised several terrorists in Zamfara State aa  few hours after suspected gang war among bandit leaders.

In a statement he issued, Lt-Col. Aliyu Danja, the media information officer of the Joint Task Force, said the operation, executed on 10th May, 2026, was a direct response to credible intelligence indicating a high-level gathering of notorious terrorist leaders and commanders from across the West African sub-region.

“Intelligence reports confirmed that the terrorists had converged at a concealed location in Tumfa Village, Shinkafi local government area, Zamfara State. The meeting point—a building situated on the northern outskirts of the village was hidden within a densely vegetated area, shielded by thick mango trees along a stream channel. The purpose of the gathering was to coordinate attacks and criminal activities targeting innocent communities in the North West region.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in close collaboration with the Air Component, launched a precision airstrike on the identified terrorist hideout.

The strike successfully destroyed the structure, which served as the terrorists’ meeting point. A Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) confirmed that several terrorists were neutralized, while surviving elements fled the area in disarray.

“Further aerial surveillance and intelligence revealed movements of suspected terrorist associates attempting to evacuate casualties from the location. Ground troops continue to conduct exploitation and clearance operations in the area to eliminate any fleeing terrorists and consolidate operational gains. Further details of the operation will be communicated later.

“The Theatre Command reaffirms its unwavering commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements threatening the peace and security of the North West region. The Command urges the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance the effectiveness of ongoing operations,” the statement reads.
