The Federal High Court sitting in Gusau, Zamfara State, has adjourned a suit filed by All Progressives Congress (APC) Zamfara North Senatorial aspirant, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC and Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura, challenging the conduct of the party’s primary election.

Presiding judge, Justice Hassan Dikko, adjourned the matter to June 25, 2026 for further mention after noting that two of the defendants — the APC and INEC — were absent in court and had yet to be properly served with the court processes.

The court ordered that the defendants be duly served and allowed time to file their responses before the next hearing date.

Speaking with journalists after the court session, counsel to the third defendant, Barr. J.C. Shaka, said he had already filed a motion seeking dismissal of the suit, arguing that no valid senatorial primary election held in Zamfara North produced his client as winner.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Barr. Bello Galadi, confirmed that the case was scheduled for mention and expressed confidence that justice would be served once all parties appear before the court.

“We still repeat our demand for justice before the court over the purported senatorial primary election which produced the third defendant as winner. The election was full of irregularities due to refusal to comply with the provisions guiding the exercise,” he said.
