Taraba State governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, and his Nasarawa State counterpart, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, on Saturday held a strategic security meeting in Lafia aimed at strengthening border security, enhancing intelligence sharing and deepening collaboration to combat cross-border threats between the two neighbouring states.

The meeting, held at the Government House in Lafia, focused on improving joint security operations and safeguarding lives, property and economic activities along the Taraba-Nasarawa border.

According to a statement issued in Jalingo by the Taraba State Commissioner for Information and Re-Orientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, the engagement is part of ongoing efforts by the Taraba State Government to strengthen partnerships with neighbouring states in addressing shared security challenges and promoting regional development.

The statement quoted Governor Kefas as reaffirming that security remains the foundation of his administration’s development agenda, stressing that sustained collaboration with neighbouring states is essential to tackling cross-border criminal activities and emerging security threats.

He said stronger cooperation between the two states would not only enhance the protection of lives and property but also stimulate economic activities, foster peaceful coexistence and promote lasting stability across the region.

The two governors also reviewed strategies for strengthening inter-state security coordination, with particular emphasis on improving intelligence gathering, expanding joint security operations and developing coordinated responses to emerging threats affecting communities along their shared boundaries.
