The First Lady of Adamawa State, Hajiya Dr Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, is set to empower 200 beneficiaries with ₦20 million as part of activities marking the 2nd Tri-Annual Meeting of the Northern Governors’ Wives’ Forum (NGWF) scheduled to hold in Yola from September 15 to 16, 2026.
The empowerment programme is aimed at supporting beneficiaries to strengthen existing businesses, establish sustainable income-generating ventures and improve the economic wellbeing of their families.
According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the First Lady, Ishaya Bitrus, the intervention is part of Hajiya Fintiri’s efforts to promote women’s empowerment, youth development, poverty reduction and inclusive economic participation.
The programme is expected to provide meaningful financial assistance to vulnerable beneficiaries and create opportunities for greater economic self-reliance.
As part of activities for the meeting, the First Lady will also commission the newly completed Paediatric Unit at the Specialist Hospital, Yola.
The new facility is expected to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide specialised paediatric care and improve access to essential healthcare services for children in a safe and conducive environment.
The empowerment programme and commissioning of the Paediatric Unit reflect the First Lady’s broader focus on combining economic empowerment with improved healthcare delivery, particularly for women, children and vulnerable groups.
The 2nd Tri-Annual Meeting of the Northern Governors’ Wives’ Forum will bring together First Ladies and wives of governors from across Northern Nigeria to deliberate on issues affecting women, children, families and vulnerable populations.
The meeting is also expected to provide a platform for participants to strengthen collaboration, share experiences and explore initiatives aimed at advancing sustainable development across the region.
The event is scheduled to commence at 11 a.m. at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yola, Adamawa State, from September 15 to 16.
