Adviser to the governor of Benue State on International and Global Partnerships, Zaki Asen, has emphasised the importance of strengthening international partnerships to advance Nigeria’s development priorities.
Asen made this known during high-level engagements at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) in New York, United States of America, where he joined Nigeria’s delegation led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The delegation participated in engagements with the leadership of the United Nations at its headquarters, including a meeting with the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed.
Asen’s participation in the global gathering reflects his involvement in international diplomacy and efforts to connect Nigeria’s development priorities with international institutions, governments, investors and development partners.
He noted that Nigeria’s presence at the United Nations provides an important platform for strengthening international cooperation and creating opportunities that could contribute to development at both national and subnational levels.
The engagement also highlighted the growing importance of state governments in international partnerships, particularly in attracting support and connecting local development priorities with global opportunities.
Asen’s participation at UNGA81 underscores the role of diplomatic engagement and strategic partnerships in advancing development objectives and strengthening Nigeria’s relationships with the international community.
