Hosts Nigeria moved up to fourth position in the team standings after the second round of the ongoing 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), while defending champions South Africa maintained their lead ahead of Friday’s final round at the Prestigious IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.
Nigeria improved their performance from the opening day, returning a combined score of 161 on Thursday, five shots better than their first-round total of 166, to take their aggregate to 327.
Despite the improvement, the hosts remain behind South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania as the continental championship enters its decisive stage at the IBB International Golf and Country Club.
South Africa strengthened their grip on the team leaderboard with a 36-hole aggregate of 309, despite returning 155 in the second round, one shot worse than their opening-day score of 154.
Kenya maintained second position with an aggregate of 316 after posting another round of 158, leaving them seven shots behind the leaders.
Tanzania climbed into third place with 325, two shots ahead of Nigeria, while Uganda occupied fifth position with 338.
In the individual standings, Kenya’s Kanana Muthomi displaced opening-day leader Isabella Ferreira of South Africa after recording two consistent rounds of 77.
Muthomi’s aggregate of 154 puts her three shots clear of Ferreira, who has 157.
South Africa’s Charlotte Millard and Botswana’s Loapi Chokwe are joint third with 159 each, while Tanzania’s Neema Olomi occupies fifth position with 160.
Kenya’s Bianca Ngecu is sixth with 162, followed by Nigeria’s Diana Osmond, who has an aggregate of 163.
Another Nigerian, Ehinomen Juliana, is joint eighth with 164 alongside Uganda’s Keisha Kagoro and South Africa’s Lourenda Steyn.
With the competition featuring three rounds of 18 holes, Friday’s final round will determine the overall team and individual champions.
South Africa will be seeking to defend their title, while Kenya remain firmly in contention for both honours. Nigeria, meanwhile, will hope to capitalise on home advantage and finish the championship strongly after their improvement in the second round.
