Kaduna State commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has said he is mobilising over one million women across the state to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections.
Mamman Lagos disclosed this yesterday in Kaduna when he spoke with journalists during a meeting with a group of women, where he described women as a critical force in the electoral process.
He said women’s participation and voting strength could play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the 2027 elections, adding that the state government was committed to empowering them through various initiatives.
The commissioner cited Operation Tsapta as one of the programmes through which the administration had improved women’s economic prospects, saying more than 8,000 women had secured employment through the initiative.
According to him, beneficiaries of the programme were earning salaries and had experienced improvements in their livelihoods.
He expressed confidence that the various projects and empowerment programmes of the Kaduna State Government would encourage more women to participate actively in the forthcoming elections.
Mamman Lagos urged residents to support the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that the achievements of the Uba Sani administration across the state’s 23 local government areas would serve as a major selling point for both Governor Uba Sani and President Tinubu.
He maintained that the impact of government projects and policies at the grassroots would translate into electoral support for the APC in 2027.
Also speaking, the Chairperson of Operation Tsapta in Kaduna State, Hajia Aisha Umar, said women across the state were prepared to mobilise massive support for President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.
Umar described Mamman Lagos as a strong advocate of women’s participation in governance, saying his commitment had created opportunities for women to occupy leadership positions and benefit from government empowerment programmes.
She identified Operation Tsapta, government appointments and other empowerment initiatives as some of the interventions through which women had benefited from the present administration.
She added that women were looking forward to the 2027 elections, when they would demonstrate their support by mobilising voters and delivering their respective polling units for the APC candidates.
On criticisms of President Tinubu’s re-election ambition by some Northerners, Umar argued that opposition expressed on social media did not necessarily reflect the voting preferences of people at the grassroots.
She said elections were ultimately determined by voters at polling units rather than comments and criticisms on social media.
The Operation Tsapta chairperson urged women in Kaduna State to remain united and sustain their mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
