The abductors of a former deputy of Nasarawa State, Professor Onje Gye-Wado, have demanded N70million ransom for his release.

The former deputy governor was abducted late Thursday  night in his village in Rinza, Wamba local government area of the State.

His abductors had earlier reached out to a family member but did not give any condition for his release.

However, a family source said the kidnappers later reached out this Friday night requesting for the sum of N70million before the former deputy governor can regain his freedom.

However, the family members were said to have offered the kidnappers the sum of N2million, noting that there was no way they can raise the N70million ransom demanded.

“The kidnappers are in touch with the family of Professor and they demanded for the sum of N70 million, but  the family offered them N2 million, which they refused.

“The family told the kidnappers that there’s no way they will be able to raise an appreciable sum especially with the public holidays from thjs Friday till Monday,” the source stated.
