Wife of Abia State governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has taken up the rehabilitation of a drug addict from the state, Glory Benjamin, who was picked from Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Glory was recently spotted in a viral social media post wandering on the streets of Asaba in a pathetic mental condition.

A source at the office of the first lady told LEADERSHIP Sunday that as soon as Mrs Otti heard of her condition, she immediately swung into action to rescue and bring her home for rehabilitation.

“She reached out to the state commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Chidi Nnadi, to coordinate a swift response with his counterpart in Delta State. With their combined efforts, Glory was rescued and taken for medical assessment where doctors confirmed she had been battling addiction to illicit drugs that had taken a toll on her mental and physical well-being,” he said.
According to the source, latest reports from the rehabilitation centre in Aba where she was admitted indicate that Glory is now stable and responding positively to treatment.

“Mrs. Otti’s advocacy goes beyond individual interventions. As the chairperson of the State Drug Control Committee, she has been a strong force in illicit drug prevention, awareness and rehabilitation efforts. Under her leadership, the government has expanded support to the NDLEA by providing an additional drug treatment and rehabilitation center in Umuahia, thus strengthening the state’s capacity to help those in need,” the source added.
