The Abia State government has announced plans to host an international investment and product exhibition to attract investors and entrepreneurs from Türkiye and other parts of Europe to explore the state’s vast economic potential.
The special adviser to Abia State governor on Investment Promotion and Public-Private Partnership, Chief Green Amakwe, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja ahead of the forthcoming Abia–Türkiye Investment Summit and Product Exhibition, scheduled to hold from November 25–27, 2025, at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia.
According to him, the event—themed “Bridging Continents, Unlocking Prosperity”—is part of the Abia State Government’s strategic efforts to strengthen trade and investment relations between Abia, Türkiye, and other global partners.
Chief Green-Amakwe noted that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with VEGA Growing Global Enterprise, marking the official partnership for the successful organisation of the summit and exhibition.
“The international investment summit and exhibition would provide an opportunity for international and local investors to explore the possibilities of Abia State and its many advantages as a preferred investment destination,” he said.
He added that the administration of Governor Dr. Alex Otti is committed to creating a business-friendly environment that encourages innovation, investment, and sustainable development.
“Through this Investment Summit, the Abia State Government seeks to explore business opportunities across key sectors including manufacturing, agriculture and agro-processing, textile, fashion and leatherworks, energy and infrastructure, trade and logistics, among others,” Green-Amakwe stated.
He explained that the summit will serve as a platform for Business-to-Business (B2B) engagements, linking investors, exporters, and local enterprises to promote trade cooperation, joint ventures, and sustainable partnerships.
Highlighting the initiative’s inclusive approach, he revealed that the state government is already collaborating with various chambers of commerce and industry—including those in Lagos, Kano, and Abuja, as well as the Aba and Umuahia Chambers of Commerce—to ensure the global summit’s successful hosting.
Chief Green-Amakwe also appealed to the media for continuous support and constructive coverage to build public confidence in the event and amplify its objectives.
“We understand the media’s key role in building brand reputation and influencing market trends. Your positive coverage of our activities can significantly shape public perception and enhance credibility. We therefore solicit your continued partnership to portray this initiative in a good light,” he said.
Responding, the president of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Dr Emeka Obegolu, commended the Abia State Government for the initiative, describing it as a bold step toward driving industrialisation and sustainable economic growth in Nigeria.
“We must support every homegrown initiative that attracts investments and builds our manufacturing capacity. The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry fully supports the Abia–Türkiye Investment Summit as a trade promotion and impact-making endeavour,” Obegolu declared.
He invited businesses within the Federal Capital Territory to explore investment opportunities emerging from the summit, noting that such collaborations would strengthen Nigeria’s overall economic performance.
Dr Obegolu also praised the transformation of Made-in-Aba products, which, according to him, now symbolise quality and innovation across Nigeria.
“I remember when we used to denigrate made-in-Aba. But today, made-in-Aba means made-in-Nigeria—and it represents quality. We will be glad to collaborate with you to host a Made-in-Aba Expo within the Abuja Chamber of Commerce premises,” he said.
He emphasised the need for Nigerians to patronise locally made products and support subnational initiatives that promote trade and development.
“If Aba is doing well, Sokoto is doing well, Kano is doing well, Lagos is doing well, the whole country will do well. Any state that decides to promote trade and commerce deserves our support, and we are committed to supporting this initiative,” he added.
The forthcoming Abia–Türkiye Investment Summit and Product Exhibition is expected to attract policymakers, diplomats, investors, and business leaders from across Africa and Europe, positioning Abia as a strategic hub for Nigeria’s international trade and industrial growth.
