Abia Govt Lifts Technical College

Abia State government has given massive support for the uplifting of the Abia State College of Education Technical, Arochukwu (ACETA).

The state governor, Alex Otti, earlier had 165 teachers for only 120 students and lacked the necessary facilities and infrastructure.

The governor made the revelation at a social event in Arochukwu, saying the discovery calls for serious concern by stakeholders in education.

He said, “We found out that there was no teaching going on. The teachers were not coming to work because they had not been paid for over two years.

”There were more teachers than students. And then, we went into the curriculum, went into accreditation; they lost accreditation for over seven years.

”You probably haven’t visited the college. If you haven’t, please take a walk to that place. All its courses are accredited. That place was forgotten.”

He said the discovery was one of the challenges his over 30-month administration, which allocates 20 per cent of its annual budget to education, could not toy with.

‎Otti, who expressed joy that the administration had gained the upper hand over the challenge, maintained that it would continue to pursue and break new ground in the sector.

‎Explaining that he went through public school and would not be who he is today without education, he said it would be unfair for him not to give attention to such schools.
