Chief of Staff (CoS) to Abia State Governor, Caleb Ajagba, has said the government is not averse to constructive criticism.

He urged the media to be objective in its reportage about the government.

Ajagba stated this during a visit to the Correspondents’ Chapel of the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Umuahia, the state capital.

”To make sure that you are doing your job, we are not telling you, if you see what is not going well in this administration, you should keep quiet.

”His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti has never done that. He will never do that. Because if that is done, you are gagging or muzzling the press.

”And once that is done, you find out that the society will not be better for it. So, we want you to be objective in whatever you think,” the CoS said.

He noted that most times, when people read about the things the media is reporting about the achivements of the government they think it is hype or make-believe.

‎Ajagba further said, “If you look at the transformation that has happened within this space of time, you will even be amazed. Many of you will not even believe what you are seeing.

‎”But of course, nobody can do this kind of thing except God empowers it. So, what you have seen is a combination of man’s ingenuity and God’s abiding faithfulness in turning things around.

‎”And now, within a space of just months. Less than 36 months. And this kind of transformation has happened. Many people even think that it is miraculous.”

‎Ajagba, who solicited the partnership of the chapel on the going transformation, added that the governor had made the state a model of development in the country.

‎”So we are going to have this engagement going forward. Once that level of collaboration has been established productively, you’ll find out that one hand cannot wash itself and it becomes very clean.

‎”By the time two hands come together, rubbing, interacting, collaborating, you’ll find out that everything will become clean. And it is better for our society. It’s better for Abia. It’s better for humanity.”

‎The chairman of the chapel, Steve Oko, expressed appreciation to the CoS for the visit, assuring of the resolve of the members to holding government accountable in line with their profession.
