Abia State government will on Thursday organise a state burial service for the late founder and president of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Dr Uma Ukpai.
This is just as it will retrofit the statue of the late premier of the defunct Eastern Region, Dr Michael Okpara at Okpara Square, in the state capital, Umuahia.
The information commissioner, Okey Kanu, disclosed this to journalists at a press briefing on the outcome of this week’s state executive council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti in the capital.
He described the state-born late evangelist and miracle worke as “a devoted ambassador of Christ whose ministerial exploits brought honour and recognition to the state and beyond.”
The late international evangelist, miracle worker, and preacher, who had his operational base in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, died last October at the age of 80
The commissioner said in its bid to reduce the risk of road accidents in the state, the government had approved the construction of speed bumps on the roads.
“With the construction and reconstruction of some of the roads in Umuahia, the lives of some commuters now appears to be at risk as a result of over-speeding on these roads.
“Consequently, the government has thought it wise to install speed bumps on some of the affected roads in Umuahia to mitigate the growing risk of road accidents,” he explained.
