The Abia State government has inaugurated a digital economy, and small and medium-size enterprises advisory committee to the ministry of economy, and small and medium-size enterprises development.
At the event at Government House, Umuahia, the capital, yesterday, Governor Alex Otti charged members of the 9-man committee to come up with ideas that will lead to the achievement of the mission.
Represented by his chief of staff, Caleb Ajagba, he underscored the need for them to assist in the creation of strong policies for digital economy, and small and medium-size enterprises development.
Identifying technology as critical to the development of society, he urged them to create programmes that will assist incubation, growth and success of start-ups and medium-size enterprises in the state.
In his response, the commissioner of the ministry and chairman of the committee, Mathew Ekwuribe, noted that the state is blessed with huge potentials that are required to be tapped.
He assured that they will not focus only on training of manpower, but will also help in providing solutions to drive the economy in the digital space in line with the vision of the administration.
