Today, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri presided over the 15th meeting of the Adamawa State Executive Council, where the council approved funds amounting to over N30 billion for major infrastructure, education, broadcasting, road construction, and human capital development.
Briefing journalists after the SEC meeting, Commissioner for Information and Strategy James Iliya said the approvals include N21.8 billion for additional works on the Adamawa Super Highway from Welcome to Yola through Rumde Kila to AA Lawal Junction and N2.4 billion for the construction of internal roads at the Army Barracks.
N184.2 million was also approved for rehabilitating studio complexes and installing new FM and AM transmitters at Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, Yola, and Mbamba booster stations.
In the education sector, the council endorsed N4.5 billion for overseas scholarships for 100 postgraduate students, and N395 million for the purchase of assorted science textbooks for junior and senior secondary schools across the state.
Other approvals include N1.6 billion for rehabilitating the NYSC orientation camp gate, Borong road in Girei/Demsa axis, and constructing a modern Adamawa State Amusement Park in Yola North to boost recreation and tourism.
Commissioner Iliya explained that these projects reflect the government’s commitment to balanced development, covering infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, and security welfare.
