The governor represented by his deputy , Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, reiterated government’s commitment to remain proactive in addressing the demands of the labour unions, for productive workforce.

Governor Fintiri highlighted some achievements recorded as regards to the welfare and well being of workers, revealing that government have so far employed over 7000 workers into the core civil service, and more are still underway to strengthen the civil service.

His administration, the governor said, remains workers friendly considering their importance, and will be committed not only to the dignity of workers but to the restoration of hopes by upholding the promise of dignified years of service and retirement as well as protecting the hard-earned pensions of workers and retirees.

He said government has invested massively in security and infrastructure among other steps taken to turn around the economic fortunes of the citizens, noting that it is still poised at pursuing favourable policies that would attract investors to the state.

State chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Emmanuel Fashe, explained that the 2026 theme: “Insecurity and Poverty-Bane of Decent Work,” suits the contemporary situation in Nigeria and Adamawa State in particular.

He highlighted insecurity and poverty as twin assassins of decent work, but acknowledged governor Fintiri’s effort in addressing insecurity and poverty, thereby pursuing secured, decent and favorable working space for workers.

Comrade Fashe thereafter, demanded wage review for workers in line with the current realities and clear outstanding liabilities, even as he made case for the implementation of promotions of the local government workers, upward review of pension fund as recommended by the Salaries and Wages Commission among other requests.

The controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, represented by Daniel Shakina and and Comrade Dauda Adamu Ali chairman Trade Union Congress (TUC), appreciated workers for their contributions to the national development.
