Agency Disburses N485m To Adolescent Girls In Bauchi

The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) has disbursed a total of N485 million to 12,133 adolescent girls in Bauchi State to support their education.

AGILE project coordinator in the state, Hajiya Ladi Mohammed, disclosed this in a chat with journalists while highlighting key achievements of the project yesterday.

According to her, the disbursement was carried out under the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) component of AGILE aimed at improving school enrolment and ensuring smooth transition of girls between education levels.

She said individual bank accounts were opened for all beneficiaries, with N40,000 credited to each student as registration and transition support.

“Out of the N40,000, N15,000 is for registration, while N25,000 is for transition. We have also distributed Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards and identification cards to about 80 per cent of the beneficiaries,” she said.

Mohammed noted that the distribution process was delayed due to school closures but assured that arrangements had been completed to resume distribution immediately after schools reopen.

She further revealed that beneficiaries who attain 75 per cent school attendance would receive an additional N10,000 at the end of the first term.
