The Africa Hub for Innovation and Development (AHFID), in partnership with Women in Public Health Leadership for Africa, Green Girl Africa and Daily Times Nigeria, has announced the Top 25 Women Voices in Development and Public Service, an initiative celebrating women driving measurable impact across the continent.

The list was unveiled during a virtual event attended by development professionals, partners and media representatives.

The campaign, launched to mark International Women’s Day, recognised women leading transformative work in public health, governance, education, climate action and social development.

According to AHFID, more than 400 nominations were received from across sectors and were reviewed through a rigorous, structured selection process.

The final honourees were chosen based on demonstrated impact, leadership and contributions to sustainable development.

Among the honourees are Dr. Margaret Shelleng of the US Department of State; Dr. Ota Akigbe of eHealth Africa; Dr. Amina Aminu Dorayi of Pathfinder International; Chief (Mrs.) Moji Makanjuola of the International Society of Media in Public Health; and Vivianne Ihekweazu of Nigeria Health Watch.

Also recognised are Adekemi Adeniyan of the Dental Care Foundation, Motunrayo Opayinka of Womenovate, Dr. Lilian Anomnachi of Technical Advice Connect, Ojoma Akor of Health and Science Africa and several other outstanding female professionals championing transformational change across sectors.

“This recognition is about impact and visibility. Too often, the work of women in development and public service goes unseen. This initiative is about changing that, by putting visibility on impact and ensuring these contributions are recognised where it matters,” said Managing Partner at AHFID, Dr. Kunle Kakanfo.
