The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam federal constituency and chairman, House of Representatives’ Committee on Public Procurement, Hon Unyime Idem, has sent the 14th batch of six Akwa Ibom indigenes to China.
They will be trained on IoT Technology and Application as well as Wind Power Technology.
In a statement signed by his media assistant, Dianime Uko, the all-expense paid training is in fulfilment of Idem’s promise to train 100 Akwa Ibom youths on relevant skills for optimum efficiency and global competitiveness.
The beneficiaries are Patience Saturday Joshua, Iniodu Hezekiah Ekanem, Ifiok Sunday Ituen, Emediong Godwin Joseph, Clayton Donatus Eyenaka, and Uforo Innocent Idiongette.
At a brief sendforth in Abuja, Idem said the gesture is to equip and raise the next generation of leaders in Akwa Ibom State, with the requisite knowledge and certification to play at the global stage.
“The world is a global village, so there’s a need for you to be exposed to modern technology to be able to compete with your counterparts globally, so wherever you have an opportunity to work, you will not lag behind.
“To achieve this, I’m targeting to train and equip a minimum of 100 Akwa Ibomites to be self-reliant and to be able to compete with their counterparts across the world.
“What is helping me today to do what I’m able to do and achieve is th level of training and exposure I’ve garnered over the years across the globe, and it is my desire that you do better than me”, Idem noted.
