The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the Benue South Senatorial District, representing the collective political will and grassroots voice of the nine local government areas of Zone C, has commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for his transformative infrastructural and developmental projects across the state.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja yesterday , Hon. (Amb.) James Melvin Ejeh, chairman of Agatu local government council, deputy ALGON chairman in Benue State, and spokesperson for ALGON in Benue South, praised Governor Alia’s administration for delivering critical infrastructure and social services to the zone.

According to Hon. Ejeh, the press conference was convened to “unequivocally address the latest display of unwarranted, petty hostilities directed at the Executive Governor of Benue State, Reverend Father Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, by the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, PhD.”

Hon. Ejeh dismissed Senator Moro’s claims that Governor Alia had “abandoned Zone C,” describing them as “patently false” and unsubstantiated.

“The electorate of Benue South has evolved. We now rigorously measure leadership not by eloquent promises but by tangible action and verifiable results,” he added.

Hon. Ejeh highlighted the ongoing construction of the Okokolo–Obagaji–Agagbe Road in Agatu LGA—a project that had been repeatedly used as an empty campaign promise by Senator Moro in previous election cycles.

“Today, Governor Alia has awarded the contract and work is visibly ongoing. This decisive action nullifies decades of neglect,” he said.

He further cited ongoing works on the Ado–Igumale–Agila Road and the Oju–Awajir Road as part of the governor’s comprehensive commitment to regional connectivity.

He praised the governor for reviving the Otobi Water Works in Otukpo, which the previous administration had abandoned. “Today, the facility provides clean and reliable water to residents after its full rehabilitation under Governor Alia’s leadership.”

On healthcare, Ejeh announced that the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) has approved the establishment of a BSUTH Annexe in Agatu, marking a significant leap in healthcare decentralisation for the zone.

“This is a strategic move towards high-quality, tertiary healthcare that benefits the entire senatorial district. This milestone dwarfs the senator’s baseless complaints,” he said.

In a particularly pointed remark, Ejeh noted that a BSUTH Annex has already been completed in Ugbokolo, the hometown of Senator Moro, under the directive of Governor Alia.

“This achievement forces us to ask: with what moral authority does Senator Moro now attempt to peddle fictitious narratives of neglect?”

He also recalled how Senator Moro once brought contractors to flag off a project and abandoned it shortly after, without any real commitment or progress.

He further applauded the governor’s inclusive approach to governance, noting that—for the first time in the history of Benue State—six sons and daughters of Benue South have been appointed into the state’s executive cabinet.

These appointments cover key ministries, including Finance, Education and Knowledge Management, Health and Human Services, Women Affairs, Information, and Water Resources.

“This level of strategic inclusion is historically unparalleled. It is an indisputable testament to Governor Alia’s commitment to equity and justice for Zone C,” Ejeh stated.
