Anambra Community Lauds Anazodo For Intervention In Flood, Erosion Crisis

Residents of Oduda Nnewichi community in Nnewi North local government area of Anambra State have commended Hon. Echezona Anazodo for his efforts in controlling flood and gully erosion.

Speaking during the flag-off of a road project at Agboedo Market and commissioning of infrastructure projects by the Mayor, Hon. Anazodo, residents took turns to appreciate him for fulfilling the promises he made to the community, just 16 days after promising to bring dividends of democracy to the area.

In a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Abuja, the residents also thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Chief Cletus Ibeto for choosing Anazodo as a mayor, saying the LGA had never experienced such kind of governance and achievements.

The projects including a drainage systems and channels at Oduda Nnewichi now controls flood that usually caused ecological challenges and obstructed movement of goods and services in the community.

Speaking at the occasion, Anazodo said he was determined to bring government closer to the people.

He also promised to repair the road at Oduda Nnewichi after the raining season.

The mayor also pledged not to relent in fulfilling his campaign promises to the people, assuring of his commitment to work in line with the Governor’s performance at the state level.

He also pledged to deliver on other ongoing projects embarked upon, “It is the mandate you gave me that I am using to work. We are not campaigning. Any project we embark on, we will finish on record time.”

Also speaking, Chief Cletus Ibeto, who commissioned the projects and flagged off the market project, thanked the mayor for embarking on the projects which he described as people-oriented and people-friendly.

Ibeto, who recalled that many people had lost their homes, including goods and other properties to ecological threats, especially during heavy downpours, urged the people of the local government to support the mayor to succeed in delivering democracy dividends to them.
