Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has claimed that several of her colleagues have made a habit of copying her style, prompting her to jokingly call for a “copycat police” in the movie industry.
In a series of posts shared on her Instagram Story, the actress alleged that many entertainers have imitated everything from her outfits and hairstyles to the songs she uses in her videos. She also claimed that some have copied her manner of speaking and even the way she walks.
Expressing her frustration, Okorie questioned why those she accused of imitating her could not simply admit they admired her instead of recreating her style and acting as though it was their original idea.
“If I start to put together pictures of people copying me, internet go scatter,” she wrote, adding that the industry needs a “copycat police” to address the growing trend.
The actress further described the alleged imitators as “yeye brities” and insisted there was nothing wrong with acknowledging someone as an inspiration. She ended her post on a humorous note, warning that she was “not smiling”.
