Archbishop, Metropolitan, and Primate of All Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, has called on churches to prioritise investments in their youth to avert potential societal crises.

Ndukuba said the church had increasingly overlooked the needs of young people, whuch has exacerbated the current challenges facing the nation, particularly those instigated by the youth.

In an interview commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Abuja Diocese of the Anglican Church, the primate stated that the Anglican Communion was firmly rooted in scriptures, centred on Christ, and dedicated to family values.

He acknowledged that every young person harbours aspirations and has deep-seated passions. If provided with the proper support and encouragement, they can thrive.

“When we fail to nurture them, they may stray, potentially becoming problematic for families, churches, and society at large, a trend we are witnessing today.”

He stressed the importance of investing in children’s and youth’s futures, recognising them as vital to the family, the church, and society.

The primate further said that helping individuals realise their God-given potential is one of the church’s most significant responsibilities.

“The church’s most crucial investment lies in our children and youth, as they represent the future generation. Furthermore, the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion has faced considerable challenges in recent times,” he said.

He emphasised the church’s need to reevaluate its mission, asserting that youth are potent allies in this endeavour. He is convinced they hold an essential role in advancing God’s Kingdom.

Reflecting on the history of the Abuja Diocese, he highlighted its significant influence in shaping the contemporary Anglican Communion in Nigeria.

“As we celebrate, we express gratitude for God’s faithfulness and our collaborative efforts over the past 35 years.

“From its inception as a mission outpost, God has graciously guided the diocese, and we honour the vision of our founding leaders.”

Ndukuba asserted that the celebration is a recognition of past successes and a time to reflect on current realities and anticipate future opportunities.

“We are hopeful that this celebration will reinvigorate our faith and prepare us to tackle today’s challenges with renewed spirit,” he said.
