The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Leader, Dr. Dayo Israel, has said the party has concluded plans to organise a 2-day training session on agribusiness and sustainable agricultural practices scheduled for young farmers in Lagos.
The youth leader, in a statement made available to newsmen, said the training underscores the party’s commitment to equipping Nigeria’s emerging agricultural leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to lead farming businesses in the country in the future.
He explained that the two-day training, which commenced today, September 10th, 2024, and will continue until Wednesday, will be conducted in collaboration with Galaxy Inter Link and the Progressive Young Farmers Network.
Israel stated that the event was also implemented to ensure food security and economic growth for Nigeria.
He noted that the Progressive Young Farmers Network/Cooperative Society was recently inaugurated by the Minister of State for Agriculture, Abdullahi Sabi Aliyu, who pointed out that this youth-led initiative aimed to revolutionize the agricultural landscape by equipping young farmers with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry.
According to him, the move is a significant stride towards transforming agriculture in Nigeria. The two-day intensive training programme “is tailored for young farmers and agriculture enthusiasts eager to revolutionize their farming practices”, as participants will gain hands-on experience and insights in three key areas.
Israel listed three key areas: Water Harvesting for Smart Agriculture, Integrated Farming Systems for Sustainable Agriculture, and Modern Farming Techniques for Sustainable and Improved Agriculture.
At the session, he stated that trainees would Learn cutting-edge water management techniques essential for modern, efficient farming, Explore innovative methods that combine various farming practices to boost productivity and sustainability, and Discover the latest technologies and processes to enhance agricultural output while prioritizing environmental stewardship.
