President Bola Tinubu has secured 183,698 votes in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election conducted across the 16 local government areas of Taraba State.

The Returning Officer for the exercise and Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, announced the result after the conclusion of the primary, saying the process was conducted in line with party guidelines and electoral procedures.

Governor Kefas commended party officials, delegates, and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and orderly exercise, while calling on APC members to remain united ahead of the general election.

“The exercise was transparent, peaceful, and in full compliance with the laid-down procedures of the party,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Taraba State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, said all incumbent members of the National Assembly from the state secured return tickets during the primary.

According to him, Senator Haruna Manu, Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau, and Senator David Jimkuta, representing Taraba Central, North, and South senatorial districts respectively, were all returned unopposed.

Alhaji Bawa also disclosed that six members of the House of Representatives from the state retained their tickets, with the exception of Hon. Abel Peter Diah of the Sardauna/Gashaka/Kurmi Federal Constituency.

Similarly, he said 24 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly secured return tickets, except Hon. Emmanuel Bongo of Mbamnga Constituency, who emerged as the party’s candidate to replace Hon. Abel Peter Diah in the House of Representatives.

The APC chairman urged party members and the public to disregard unverified reports circulating on social media concerning the conduct and outcome of the primaries.

He said the party had observed with concern contradictory reports, speculations, unofficial publications, and misleading information regarding aspects of the primary process.

Alhaji Bawa stressed that only information officially released by the party’s state secretariat and other authorised communication channels should be considered authentic.

“Any contrary claims, unofficial lists, fabricated results, or speculative reports should be disregarded entirely by party members and the general public,” he said.
