A group under the aegis of Turning Point Agenda (TPA) has called on the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), and the National Working Committee (NWC), to urgently address several complaints that arose in the aftermath of the primary elections of the party held across the country as well as officially declare results of the primaries.

In a petition addressed to the national chairman of the party by the national coordinator, Turning Point Agenda, Paul Oluwaseun Mashote titled “Urgent need for transparent, lawful and authoritative resolution of primary election petitions and official declaration of results,” Paul noted that in spite of assurance from the APC chairman that all petitions regarding the primary would be given urgZoutcomes of the primaries.

This assurance was timely, reassuring, and reflective of the party’s commitment to due process, internal democracy, and institutional discipline.

They added that, “The premature dissemination of unofficial results especially in a politically sensitive environment creates confusion, breeds distrust, and heightens the risk of avoidable conflict among supporters of aspirants. In several constituencies, tensions are already rising as supporters react to these speculative publications, some of which directly contradict the realities observed at the polling and collation levels, a case in point is Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikorodu Constituency 1.

“Of particular concern is the fact that petitions and appeals arising from the primaries are yet to be fully determined by the NWC as provided for under the party’s guidelines. Any attempt, whether direct or implied, to treat unverified or unofficial publications as final outcomes before the exhaustion of the Party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms, would not only be procedurally flawed but could also erode confidence in the Party’s commitment to fairness and justice.”
