All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders under the aegis of Support Groups for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu have urged the national leadership of the ruling party to allow the North West geopolitical zone to produce the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.
The group in a joint press conference held in Abuja at the weekend, further declared the group’s support for Senator Barau Jibrin to succeed Senator Ahmed Lawan as the President of the 10th Senate.
Nigeria’s 10th National Assembly will be inaugurated in the first week of June and different interest groups across the country are already lobbying for the seats of Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The DG of the group, Babajide Akin-thomas, said the Senate under the 10th National Assembly will be very critical to the success of the incoming administration and whoever will be elected to lead this arm of government must possess the required level experience, loyalty and commitment to service of the people.
He said, Sen Barau Jibrin has the wealth of experience, capacity and vision to perform effectively in this position. His track record, integrity and commitment to quality legislation are also super commendable.
“Statistically, going by the results of the election, it must also be noted that the North-West region deserves an important role in the next administration on the basis of merit. The North-West, out of the 6 geopolitical zones, gave Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the highest number of votes.”
He noted that the Kano State, where Senator Jibrin emerges from, gave the President-Elect the second highest number of votes nationwide, only behind Lagos State.
He stated further that senator Jibrin has the required experience for this office. He has been a member of the Senate since 2015 and has held critical positions within the Senate such as Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations and Chairman, Senate Committee on Gas. He has a proper understanding of the legislative process as well as vast knowledge on issues affecting.
The group also declared it support for James Falake as the Chief of staff to president elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Saying Hon James Falake
The Engr Salisu Magaji who was part of the APC-PCC said the position of the Chief of Staff to the President is very critical to the success of the incoming administration and must be exclusively reserved for the best possible hand.
“Falake has proven over time to be loyal, trustworthy, accessible, hardworking, and committed to the success of anything involving Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“The chief of staff who will be responsible for the management of the day to day activities of the president and also responsible for the coordination of all the presidential aides has to be someone who is equally cerebral and up to the task,” he said.
