The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) achieved a significant victory in the local government elections held on September 28, 2024, in Anambra State, winning all chairmanship and councillor positions across the 21 local government areas.

Genevieve Osakwe, the Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), announced the results late Sunday evening at the commission’s headquarters in Awka. She confirmed that APGA candidates secured all 21 chairmanship seats and council positions, with results declared at the ward level.

Osakwe described the election as the “fairest” in recent memory, emphasizing the commission’s diligent efforts in collating and analysing the results to minimize errors. “The commission took great care in ensuring the accuracy of the results,” she stated.

She also commended the security agencies for their role in maintaining peace and order during the electoral process. “I can confirm that the elections for chairmanship and councillorship held on September 28, 2024, were free, fair, and credible, with APGA candidates receiving the highest number of votes,” Osakwe affirmed.
