Arsenal have threatened to walk away from negotiations to sign Viktor Gyokeres after Sporting CP increased the asking price for the striker, according to Record.

Gyokeres is attracting interest from some of Europe’s top clubs, after scoring 67 times in 52 games for the Portuguese champions.

Sporting CP had been hoping that a bidding war between the two sides would help them get a massive transfer fee for the striker.

However, Gyokeres’ decision to snub United, has now led to the club hiking their price.

Arsenal believed that a fee around €70 million (£60m/$81m) would be enough to land the signing of Gyokeres this summer.

However, Sporting have turned down that offer around that price point would not be enough for them to agree to sell the highly-rated striker.

Arsenal are ready to “freeze” their interest in Gyokeres and turn away from the deal if Sporting continue to make inflated demands. The Gunners believe they have cheaper options in the form of Benjamin Sesko and Ollie Watkins.
