Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer believes it’s “completely normal” for Arsenal to be feeling the pressure in the Premier League title race.
The Gunners secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Chelsea at the Emirates on Sunday, a performance Shearer admitted wasn’t their most brilliant, with the team heavily relying on set-pieces.
However, speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer stressed the importance of Arsenal continuing to accumulate points and maintain their lead over Manchester City.
“They found a way against Chelsea, they weren’t brilliant, but their set-pieces have done it for them again and there’s nothing wrong with that,” Shearer commented.
He added, “They’re going to be nervy, they’re going to be edgy because of the pressure that they’re under. They’re human, I’ve been there myself, and it’s a huge ask, it is tough mentally and physically. It drains you.”
