Bandits have attacked villages around Kuyello Ward in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing five farmers in an incident that occurred on Sunday morning.
A resident of one of the communities, who identified himself as Mohamed, disclosed this to LEADERSHIP, saying the attack occurred between the Dunya and Shado communities.
Mohamed said the attackers stormed the area while farmers were working and killed five of them before leaving the community.
According to him, the bandits did not abduct anyone or destroy any property during the attack.
“They did not kidnap anybody, and they did not destroy anything. They only killed the people and left,” he said.
Mohamed said the attack lasted for about two hours without resistance, adding that the bandits stormed the villages around 10am to 11am on Sunday.
He also said the attack forced some farmers to flee the affected areas amid fears of further attacks.
Another resident, who pleaded anonymity, also confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, all efforts to get the police’s reaction to the incident proved abortive, as the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, did not respond to several messages and phone calls.
