The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate removal of all billboards, banners, and campaign posters mounted on streetlights, utility poles, flyovers, and other public infrastructure across the state.

The directive was issued by the Bauchi State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency in collaboration with the Bauchi State Physical Planning and Development Board , the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency, and the Bauchi State Road Traffic Agency after a closed-door meeting with political party chairmen on Wednesday.

Speaking on behalf of the agencies, the General Manager of the Bauchi State Physical Planning and Development Board, Muhammad Ibrahim, said political parties and their supporters have been given a one-week ultimatum to comply with the directive.

He said the ultimatum takes effect from Thursday, June 4, and expires on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

According to him, the exercise is part of government efforts to enforce urban renewal policies, restore environmental order, ensure public safety, and curb misuse of public infrastructure for political activities.

He warned that enforcement teams will remove and confiscate any campaign materials that remain after the expiration of the deadline.

“Political parties, their supporters, and residents are urged to comply with physical planning regulations and provisions of the Right of Way Act. Public infrastructure and road corridors must be kept free from unauthorised structures and advertisements,” he said.

Ibrahim stressed that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility and called on residents to support efforts aimed at maintaining a clean and orderly urban landscape.

He further warned that mobile courts would be deployed to prosecute violators, adding that offenders would face penalties under relevant state laws.
