Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed has assured indigenous students that all pending scholarship benefits would be settled before the end of this month.
The governor stated this while addressing leadership and members of National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS) who went to congratulate him on his victory at the Supreme Court.
He noted that he had granted approval for the disbursement of the scholarships and wondered why some of the students were yet to receive their entitlements.
Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, Governor Mohammed assured that he would direct relevant stakeholders including the commissioner for Education and the Treasury Office to investigate the reason for the delay in the process with a view to addressing the pending cases.
While appreciating the students for the solidarity visit, the governor also pledged more commitment to their welfare.
Speaking on behalf of the students, the NUBASS national president, Comrade Adam Muhammad Tukur who congratulated the governor for the victory, emphasized the need for the state government to consider the plight of the affected students.
According to him, about 30 percent of the students studying within and outside the state were yet to receive the scholarship despite the governor’s approval.
He assured the governor of the support of all the indigenous students to his administration.
