In a renewed push to safeguard its forest reserves, the Bauchi State government has kitted 150 forest guards with new uniforms and range boots, reinforcing frontline efforts against deforestation and environmental degradation across the state.

The distribution, carried out by the Ministry of Housing and Environment, saw the guards drawn from 12 zonal forestry offices receive the gear aimed at improving both their welfare and effectiveness in the field.

At the event, the commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to forest protection under the leadership of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.

He said the initiative forms part of a wider strategy to curb erosion and check the steady advance of desert encroachment.

“This government is fully committed to securing our forest reserves,” Kawule said, assuring the guards of sustained support from the ministry and the state.

He urged them to carry out their duties “without fear or favour.”

Also speaking, the Director of Forestry, Dauda Muhammad, charged the guards to remain diligent and professional, stressing that effective forest management is critical to the state’s environmental future.

The forest guards, in turn, pledged renewed dedication to their responsibilities, describing the support as a morale booster for the demanding task ahead.

With boots on the ground and uniforms to match, Bauchi State is signaling a tougher stance on forest protection—one patrol at a time.
