Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa has asked retiring Generals to be ready to serve a greater cause in national development.

He said the retired Generals would be required for national security and field operations just like in other climes.

General Musa spoke on Friday at a cocktail reception for 18 retired Army Generals in Abuja.
The retired and retiring Major Generals and Brigadier Generals comprising two Major Generals and 16 Brigadier Generals were honored for their meritorious service to the nation.

“We recognise the sacrifices made by their families and most especially the gallant defenders of the home front – spouses who have stood beside them with unwavering support, understanding the demands and challenges of military life. You must also not forget that your retirement is not into oblivion but to be ready to serve a greater cause in national development. You would be required in national strategic planning, support in defence production, national security and varied fields just like other veterans worldwide do,” he said.

Musa stated that the retiring generals had led with courage, wisdom and determination, devoting themselves to the protection and defence of the country.
