Beneficiaries of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Start Your Own Business (SYOB) Scheme in Kebbi State, have commended the directorate and the federal government for the scheme, which they said has helped to expand their businesses.
The beneficiaries spoke separately to journalists at their various places of business in Birnin Kebbi during a fact finding and assessment tour on how they run their businesses.
At Gesse Phase 111 area, Malama Yahsul Rahama, CEO Yahsul Poultry Farm, disclosed that she started her poultry business seven years ago with 100 chickens but now has over 3000 chickens.
She commended NDE for giving her N600,000 loan which helped expand her business and requested for more funds to expand her business.
At Badariya area, Muhammed Sani, CEO Bagaloli Welding Works Nig Enterprises, told journalists that he was in welding works since 2003 alone, but now has over 40 people working under him.
He added that he opened another branch when he got a loan of 400,000 from NDE. He urged the directorate to extend such loans to other people like graduate Almajiris so that they can become self-reliant.
In the Mobil area, Aisha Haliru Abubakar, MD Bettys Delight, a catering service provider, informed the journalists that she started with only N20,000 in 2016 now has over N500,000 as capital after securing a loan of N150,000 from NDE. While appreciative of the efforts of NDE she urged the management to maintain the tempo.
Also, Malama Suwaiba Ladan Giro at Bayan Kara informed the media team that she started her livestock farming six years ago with only 1 cow and a ram, now has over 50 both rams and cattle after she got a loan of N100,000 from NDE. She said she needed about N500,000 to expand her animal rearing business which according to her is more profitable than any other business, especially during Sallah festivities.
She commended the efforts of the federal government through NDE.
