Benue Women Ministry Harps On Improved Security For Vulnerable Persons

The Benue State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare has said improved security is critical to its mandate of protecting vulnerable persons, particularly women and children who are often most affected by insecurity and displacement.

The commissioner, Theresa Odachi Ikwue, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to protecting vulnerable persons as Governor Hyacinth Alia strengthens the state’s security architecture.

A statement issued by the ministry’s information officer, Joy Akoh yesterday said Ikwue participated in a town hall meeting with stakeholders in Okpokwu local government area where Governor Hyacinth Alia said the federal government had established the Nigerian Army 5 Division.

The commissioner pledged continued collaboration with stakeholders to promote peace, strengthen protection systems and ensure safer communities where women and children can thrive.
The governor said the initiative would bring security closer to communities, improve response to threats and protect lives and property.

Alia commended the people for their resilience and commitment to peace, assuring them of continued government efforts towards a safer and better Benue.
