Bichi First FC Knock Kano Pillars Out of President Federation Cup

The dream of silverware came to a crushing end for Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) giants Kano Pillars on Wednesday, as they were sensationally knocked out of the President Federation Cup by lower-league opposition.

The Sai Masu Gida fell at the semi-final stage of the Kano State Federation Cup, losing 4-2 on penalties to ambitious Nigeria National League (NNL) side Bichi First FC.

In a tense, hard-fought encounter that failed to produce a goal in regulation time, both sides cancelled each other out in a keenly contested stalemate. Despite Kano Pillars’ superior top-flight experience and their fervent home support, they could not break down a resolute and well-organized Bichi First defense.

Last year, the team’s campaign ended in disappointment at the round of 64, where they were narrowly edged out by a 1-0 scoreline against Rangers International at the Bwari Township Stadium in Abuja.
