A devastating explosion, suspected to be caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), has rocked the bustling Buni Yadi livestock market in the Gujba local government area of Yobe State, on Friday.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:30pm, according to a resident of Buni, Ali Hassan, who said: “It happened around 1:30 this afternoon, injuring a girl and many other traders.”

Authorities were yet to confirm the full extent of the damage or the number of casualties, but eyewitnesses reported significant injuries among market-goers and traders. The explosion has caused widespread panic and chaos, disrupting the daily activities of the popular livestock market.
