All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South West has described the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari as a great loss for Nigeria.

The party’s zonal publicity secretary, Mr Ayo Afolabi, said in a statement yesterday in Ibadan that Buhari was one of Nigeria’s finest leaders who stood for integrity and true service to the nation.

The party joined Nigerians in mourning the outstanding citizen who, it said, demonstrated true and selfless leadership at different times when he served the nation first in the Nigerian Army, later as Head of State, chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, and lately President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The South West APC commended Buhari’s role in instilling discipline and fighting corruption, stressing that he was an incorruptible leader.

The party condoled with his wife, children, President Bola Tinubu and the APC on his demise and prayed to God to comfort them.

“Nigerians will always remember his commitment to discipline, integrity and love for Nigeria. As president from 2015 to 2023, Buhari pursued policies that ensured that Nigeria fed its citizens.

“He also embarked on infrastructural projects, including roads and railways.

His supervision of the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill and removal of electricity from the exclusive to concurrent list paved the way for the laying of the foundation for development in the two sectors,” Afolabi said.
