The Acting Secretary to the Yobe State Government (SSG), Dr Mohammed Goje, has said that the strategic security initiatives and sustained investments undertaken by the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni have significantly strengthened peace, stability and public confidence across Yobe State.
Dr Goje stated this while highlighting the achievements of the Buni administration in the security sector during a press briefing organised as part of activities marking the seventh anniversary of the governor’s stewardship.
According to him, one of the most remarkable accomplishments of the administration over the last seven years has been the restoration and consolidation of peace in communities that were previously affected by insurgency, displacement and insecurity.
The SSG explained that the successes recorded in the sector were made possible through a proactive and multi-dimensional security strategy anchored on close collaboration with security agencies, community engagement, institutional support, humanitarian recovery and sustained government investment in security infrastructure.
“Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration has remained steadfast in its commitment to protecting lives and property through practical support to security agencies and community-based security structures,” he said.
Dr Goje disclosed that the state government procured and distributed more than 200 operational motorcycles and 60 patrol vehicles to various security formations, vigilante groups, hunters and community response teams to enhance surveillance, rapid response and intelligence gathering across the state.
He noted that the administration also prioritised the welfare of security personnel and their families through financial assistance to wounded personnel and families of fallen heroes, as well as the provision of residential accommodation for newly posted senior security officers.
The Acting SSG further revealed that the government introduced financial incentives for serving and retired security personnel in recognition of their sacrifices and contributions to maintaining peace and stability in the state.
According to him, the Buni administration also allocated land to the Armed Forces Casualty Trust Fund for the construction of 100 housing units for families of fallen and incapacitated military personnel, demonstrating the government’s commitment to supporting those who have paid the ultimate price in the defence of the nation.
“The security gains recorded over the past seven years are a testament to Governor Buni’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of the people of Yobe State,” he said.
