Celebrities Step Out In Style As The Macallan Partners ATAFO For SS ‘24 Showcase

Nigerian celebrities, dignitaries and fans came all out to support talented fashion designer, Mai Atafo, as he showcased his Spring/ Summer Fashion ‘24 Collection in collaboration with world-renowned Scotch whisky brand, The Macallan. 

The event attracted the most prominent names in the creative industry, including Richard-Mofe Damijo, Aituaje ‘Waje’ Iruobe, Banky Wellington, Adesua Wellington, Alexx Ekubo, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, Shaffy Bello, IK Osakioduwa, Timi Dakolo, IK Ogbonna, Prince Nelson-Enwerem, Akin Faminu, Idia Aisen, Dimma Umeh, Mimi ‘Medlin Boss Yina and Ilebaye Odinaya – among others

It was a spectacular evening showcase that combined the love for luxury and fashion with craftsmanship at the Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. Themed; ‘Sartorial Reverie’, the fashion show attracted over 700 guests, who came to glance and applaud seventy models in 90 outfits, strut the runway in style. 

As the evening began, guests got the opportunity to network, indulge in ultra-premium whisky and pose for a photo and more. Before long, the runway show took guests on a sartorial journey with a delightful orchestra enhancing the exhibition. The event attained new heights as the models debuted the collection, reflecting ATAFO’s timeless tailoring and innovative spirit with a harmonious fusion of contemporary design elements. 

Expressing his delight at the success of the event, brand manager, Edrington Portfolio, Nigeria, Hammed Adebiyi, said: “The ATAFO brand perfectly exemplifies The Macallan’s dedication to craftsmanship and the peerless spirit. And this showcase presents a unique opportunity to reinforce our commitment to Nigeria’s vibrant creative industry.”

Speaking on the collaboration, creative designer, ATAFO, Mai Atafo, said, “I feel honoured to be partnering with a brand like The Macallan; they recognise the value of an event of this magnitude, and that is something special. Usually, fashion is overlooked when it comes to sponsorships. So, having The Macallan do this with me is very noteworthy. The collection ‘Sartorial Reverie,’ is a celebration of my commitment to elevating the craftsmanship at ATAFO, and nothing emphasises mastery like The Macallan.” 

With a mix of sophisticated yet modern range of garments that cater to life’s various occasions, the menswear featured formal silhouettes inspired by ATAFO’s signature designs like the ‘schaket’ and ‘tradxedo’; while the womenswear introduced a fresh, more feminine approach that merges contemporary design with traditional Nigerian style.
