Akrong said the visit was to seek the expertise of Nwafor towards plans by the centre to strengthen the women, youth, peace and security components of their mandate, especially around adopting best practices from Nigeria’s design and implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2250 National Action Plan (NAP) on Youth, Peace and Security.

He added that the visit was also targeted at strengthening the partnership between both organisations, sharing ideas and exploring new vistas for collaboration in pursuit of the African Peace agenda.
Nwafor, who received the delegation at the weekend, reiterated the Rotary International’s commitment to providing Africa with policy options based on result-oriented research while building capacities and intervening in conflict affected areas to enable the continent emerge as a peaceful and democratic continent where the principles of the rule of law and human dignity are respected.

Akrong also visited the director-general, Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution, national commandant of Peace Corp Nigeria, civil society organisations, governmental, non-governmental bodies and stakeholders in the academia at the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) such as the students.

He sought their opinion on the impacts of the National Action Plan, its challenges in achieving full implementation so as to prevent making avoidable mistakes in Ghana and in the course of applying the 3Es- engaging, educating and empowering the youths and women to create and sustain a peaceful society.
