The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to unite in building a safer, more compassionate environment for children, as the country marks Children’s Day 2025.

In a special message to commemorate the day, Senator Tinubu emphasised the urgent need to confront bullying in all its forms—whether in schools, communities, or online.

She said the year’s theme, “Stand Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation,” reflects a collective duty to nurture the emotional and psychological well-being of children across the nation.

“Whether it occurs in schools, in communities, or online, bullying leaves lasting wounds that hinder a child’s emotional, social, and academic development,” the First Lady noted.

Describing children as the “promise of Nigeria’s future,” she underscored the importance of creating supportive environments where every child can thrive without fear.

“Every child deserves to grow up in an environment that is safe, supportive, and free from fear,” she said.

As a mother and national figure, Senator Tinubu urged parents, educators, community leaders, and policymakers to take decisive steps in combating bullying.

“Let us teach our children that strength lies in compassion, and that true leadership begins with looking out for one another,” she stated.

Mrs Tinubu concluded her message with warm wishes for Nigerian children, reaffirming her commitment to their protection and development.

Children’s Day is celebrated annually in Nigeria on May 27 to recognise and promote the rights and welfare of children.
