A Christian group, the Bauchi State Coalition of Christian Youths and Elders in Politics, has pledged its full support for Governor Bala Mohammed’s political future, including backing any candidate he presents for governorship and other elective positions in 2027.

During a press conference in Bauchi yesterday, the coalition, led by the chairman Joel Joshua and secretary Danladi Audu, lauded Governor Mohammed as a “Christian-friendly, multi-religious, and multi-ethnic leader” who has governed without bias.

The group also urged him to heed calls from various quarters to contest for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027.

“We wish to add our voice to the numerous calls urging Governor Bala Mohammed to run for president in 2027. He is one of the few capable leaders who can salvage Nigeria from its socio-economic and security challenges. Our prayers and support are assured,” they said.

The group highlighted the governor’s achievements in security, governance, and inclusion. It emphasised that Bauchi State has become one of the safest in the Northeast. They praised the governor’s commitment to catering for all citizens, regardless of religious or ethnic background.

The group also recognised Governor Mohammed’s goodwill toward the Christian community, citing his record-breaking sponsorship of 176 Christian pilgrims to Israel in 2023, along with financial support to ensure their comfort.

The coalition urged the governor to ensure that Bauchi remains in safe hands, “We trust that when the time comes, His Excellency will choose a competent and trusted leader who will continue his legacy,” they stated.

Quoting Proverbs 29:2, they affirmed that under Governor Mohammed, “the people are rejoicing and not groaning,” and they wish to see his leadership vision sustained beyond his tenure.

The coalition concluded by expressing confidence that Governor Mohammed will ensure a seamless transition to a like-minded successor, reaffirming their unwavering support for his political aspirations.
