Christians in Niger state witnessed a hitch-free Easter, even as Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and Senator Peter Ndalikali Jiya, representing Niger South, called for deeper reflection of the lessons the celebration enunciated.
The two leaders made the calls during the celebration of Easter in the state, while also congratulating Christians the world over on the end of the 2026 Lent.
In an Easter message through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor noted that Easter is a solemn celebration for Christians, acknowledging its significance as the foundation of the faith.
The governor reminded Christians of the need for deeper reflection on the importance of Easter and to continue upholding the tenets of their religion.
He tasked them to deepen their supplications to God for an enduring peace in the state and not to relent in praying for wisdom and guidance for leaders at various levels to ensure impactful leadership.
He reaffirms his determination to continue providing inclusive governance and to achieve the New Niger agenda for the benefit of the citizenry.
Senator Peter Ndalikali Jiya, in his message, said Easter serves as a symbol of victory over despair and a call to embrace faith, forgiveness, and compassion in our daily lives.
“It is a time for deep reflection on the values of selflessness, humility, and unwavering devotion to the service of humanity”, he said while urging all citizens, regardless of religious or ethnic background, to use this season to promote peace, unity, and tolerance within our communities.
He emphasised that the strength of our society lies in our ability to live together in harmony, support one another, and work collectively for the nation’s progress and stability.
