The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity, and Justice has passed a vote of confidence on the minister of works Senator Dave Umahi’s resolve to curb lateness in the ministry.

The coalition in a statement jointly signed by its national coordinator Comrade James Okoronkwo and the director of mobilisation, Mr Chuks Abel, yesterday in Abuja, commended the minister for his unwavering commitment to improving efficiency and curbing all forms of laxity among ministry workers.

Lauding the efforts of the minister, the coalition hailed the minister’s strong stance against ineptitude and poor performance.

It also commended the efforts in introducing innovations such as the use of concrete in road construction.

Despite the challenges posed by the recent removal of fuel subsidies, the coalition urged ministry workers to prioritise punctuality and abandon negative practices that can hinder the ministry’s progress under Umahi’s leadership.

The coalition stressed that protesting the minister’s policies with placards was uncalled for.

It also called on the government to address the rising transportation costs by providing staff buses for workers in various ministries and agencies.

The group lauded Umahi’s unmatched achievements during his tenure as the governor of Ebonyi State and urged him to replicate the same at the federal level and remain focused amid attempts by detractors to undermine his dedication to fixing federal roads nationwide.
